All things considered, I feel amazing! This weekend started off with an ambitious attempt to walk 12 miles, as a part of my training regimen for the 40-mile Avon Walk in May. I was prepared with water and several layers of clothing to avert thirst and the elements. The weather was windy and in the low 40s. In the end, I was able to successfully complete 9 miles. Not bad for my first training walk! Jackie, my walking buddy and I, did our best to ignore the pain shooting up from out feet, ankles, knees and lower back--thank God we had each other for support.
For the first time in my life, I walked from DC to VA. We've all driven across our local state lines a million times--but, I never thought I would travel by foot from the District into the Commonwealth. I walked from Dupont Circle to VA via route 50 across the FDR Bridge, followed by a muddy trek around Theodore Roosevelt Island. Then I headed back into DC around the Tidal Basin towards the Lincoln Memorial, through the National Mall, wrapping up in China Town. It was intense--but I can't wait to do it again!
Thanks to all who have contributed towards my fundraising efforts! I am still taking donations at my personal AVON WALK WEBSITE. I am also planning some fundraising events in March and April, so I will keep you posted.
Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Your encouraging emails mean the world to me!
Sincerely,
~BEE.
