How Your Clothes Feel: The Best Weight Loss Indicator
Stepping on the scale always makes me nervous. Whenever I hear my scale calling me, I turn the television up to ignore its squeaky little voice. I refuse to let the scale gods ruin my day. Seeing the scale move up even a half a pound ignites the need for an internal counseling session. My inner therapist usually can connect the weight gain to water retention--or some other random thing. But usually I try to avoid stepping on my scale's icy cold, apathetic metal face.
So the other day when I was getting dressed for work, my slacks slid on a little easier. They were actually loose! The funny thing was, when I bought these pants a few months ago, they were too small. I normally don't make a habit of purchasing clothes that don't fit my current body shape, but NY&Co was having a sale and they were fresh out of size 14s. I REALLY needed a pair of gray slacks--so I did the unthinkable. When I got home, I hung the pants in my closet and waited patiently until they fit.
So what is the moral of this story?--DON'T TRUST THE SCALE (sometimes)! I am certainly creeping down in size, but according the scale I am dancing along a ugly little plateau. So who's right? I am going to believe my magical gray pants. They know my body intimately, have hugged my contours and continued to complement me every time I asked. I could argue that my clothes are a little more faithful than most friends--but that is another story for another day.
So now that my size 12s are starting to get too loose (can we believe I am almost in a size 10?), what is a Honey Bee to do? I simply can't afford an entire new spring wardrobe. Last year around this time I was between a size 18 and 16. No worries, I suppose I am headed to thrift shop...
Take care and I will blog again soon.
